Digital X-Rays in Santa Rosa

Our doctors choose carefully which and when radiographs are taken. There are guidelines that we consider but ultimately radiographs are recommended based on individual patients’ needs. Radiographs allow us to see what we cannot see with our own eyes. Radiographs enable us to detect cavities between your teeth and determine bone level, and the health of bone. We can often prevent the need for more costly treatment when we detect problems early. We can also examine the roots of teeth, diagnose lesions such as cysts or tumors, as well as assess damage when trauma occurs.

Dental radiographs are invaluable aids in diagnosing, treating, and maintaining dental health. It is essential to minimize X-ray exposure to patients. With digital radiographs, exposure time is 50-80 percent less when compared to traditional radiographs. Digital radiographs can also help us preserve or retrieve valuable diagnostic information. Traditional film radiographs fade with time. Not only can we see better with digital radiographs, but we can also easily store patient images on our computers and quickly transfer them to appropriate specialists or insurance companies.

At Fountaingrove Dentistry, we use modern digital radiograph technology that gives the best diagnostic image for the lowest exposure to the patient. Our Dexis intraoral sensors are easier to use and more comfortable than the old cardboard films of the past. Our ProOne digital panorex is fabulous for viewing the whole jaw, including wisdom teeth. Our new PreXion Cone Beam CT scanner can give outstanding 3D images of the jaws with 90% less radiation exposure when compared with most Medical CT scanners. This scanner is used for dental implant treatment, viewing a suspicious jaw joint or even finding cracks in teeth that do not show up on 2D radiographs.
